There’s a full moon in Scorpio coming—so get ready for your libido to go crazy

Mark your calendars for May 18, when a lunar rendezvous in Scorpio (aka the sexiest sign in the zodiac) will be taking those lusty springtime feelings up several notches. But that’s not all that’s happening this week—and astrologer Jennifer Racioppi is here to break down what will be an action-packed week, in and out of the bedroom.

The week ahead screams sex. On Monday, the sun in sensual Taurus makes a trine to Pluto, exacerbating feelings of spring fever, asking you to connect to your “want power.” Want power, different than willpower, is the ability to connect so deeply with your drive, that you are willing to do whatever it takes to align your life with your intended outcome. Your dissatisfaction and irrational needs can support you to conjure the energy required to make the changes you most want—so this isn’t about repressing your longings, but rather (as this week’s transits will ask of you) leaning into them with unbridled passion to explore them fully.

With the moon waxing full, the vibes of the week are sultry and command the acknowledgment of your most infectious longings—this very well could express itself with distinct sexual needs, too. The full moon, which happens at 5:11 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, May 18, is in Scorpio, after all. If you feel your libido increase, allow yourself to embrace your inner erotic being. Even in you don’t have a partner, you can self-pleasure, move your body sensually, or care for yourself exquisitely. Don’t underestimate the power of a massage, yin yoga, or even pole dancing. Tap into your primal needs.

If you are looking for love, use this energy to call in your lover. You may even want to set up an altar in the name of Venus.

To further add flames to the fire, in addition to the sun in a trine Pluto on Monday, Venus and Mars have a perfect connection, a sextile, on Tuesday. With the promising connection between traditional masculine and feminine energies merging, ambition catches fire. Lean into it and level up.

If you are looking for love, use this energy to call in your lover. You may even want to set up an altar in the name of Venus. Place sacred objects on it that connect you with your sensuality and desire for love. Think flowers, holy objects, and images that connect you to the highest vibration of passion. Then take time to connect with those feelings within yourself. Make a heartfelt request to the universe to be shown distinctly what needs to shift in your life to come into alignment with what you (or who) you most desire.

For those of you in relationships that lack passion, don’t be afraid to initiate sexual interaction this week. Plan a date night and court your lover. Stay bold and practice confidence.

Why the Mars-Cancer dance could bring you down

One day later, on May 15, Mars exits Gemini heading into Cancer, while Venus exits Aries, entering into Taurus. This cosmic shift commands attention. These two personal planets switching signs shakes things up. With Venus moving into her domain, Aphrodite comes home to the manifestation of pleasure, so, you may feel even more called to embodiment practices and joy.

Mars, on the other hand, doesn’t like Cancer as much. His switch from mutable air to cardinal water could feel a bit moody. If brooding emotions emerge, allow them. Don’t fight what is. On a positive note, though, Mercury makes a helpful sextile to Neptune, illuminating truth, and helping you to tap into your intuitive knowing. Bottom line: go with the flow and trust your gut.

On May 16, Mercury trines Saturn, supporting you to make up your mind and go for it (whatever it is!). With the transits from earlier in the week seducing you to acknowledge your deepest longings and desires, trust that you know what you want. Commit.

The crescendo of the week occurs with the full moon in Scorpio on Saturday. With the sun in Taurus and the moon in Scorpio, this ravenous and angsty full moon pushes you to take action. Venus in Taurus conjoins Uranus the planets of disruption asking you to let go of what holds you back from being in your most, authentic, soul-aligned, power. One of my absolute most favorite full moons of the year, this lunation brings ferocity. With the sun in the luscious sign of the bull, making a powerful trine to Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn please be sure to get outside and stand under the moonlight. This moon illuminates piercing power, and you want to open up your consciousness to receive it. On the challenging side of things, with no planets in air signs, this full moon lacks breath. So please pay close attention to your inhales and exhales. If your breathing feels shallow, stale or stuck, tap into the power of essential oils. Eucalyptus, lavender, and peppermint will help immensely. And, don’t underestimate the power howling at the moon either. Opening up your throat chakra (Taurus rules the throat) and belting out a long, moonlit, thunderous growl, might be precisely what this moon calls for.
