There are dresses and then there are Mother of Pearl dresses. The sustainable British label was created by Amy Powney and has been a hit amongst the fashion crowd for good reason—the dresses are often flowing, romantic pieces that are as classic as they are contemporary. They fit into any wardrobe and are the ideal keep-forever items. The brand’s spring/summer 2020 season favours colours such as black, white, blues and muted pinks for its tops, bottoms and frocks and a couple of checked jackets that will see you right through until September. There are of course polka dots and plenty of pieces embellished the with its signature pearls too.

While we’re of course all for investing in those really great designer pieces, there’s no escaping the fact that luxury fashion, and often sustainable fashion, is expensive. So, boy, do we have some great news for you today. John Lewis & Partners has teamed up with Mother of Pearl to create a capsule collection featuring gorgeous dresses and blouses, a chic beige suit, as well as some great shirts and trousers. The most popular piece so far has to be the polka dot dress that clearly bears the brand’s classic style. And if you want to see how it looks, some of our favourite influencers have been styling it in different ways. Keep scrolling for all of those outfit ideas and then shop our edit of the collection.

Style Notes: Zeena Shah teams her black and white dress with chunky black sandals.

Style Notes: For a more sassy take, try pairing your dress with black pumps and sunglasses. Don’t forget to add a slick of red lipstick.

Style Notes: Jessie Ware opts for the striped tie-waist dress. Chain necklaces are a great idea to wear with it.

Style Notes: And if you’re really stuck on how to wear it? Keep it simple and accessorise with a great pedi.
