As we approach the end of week eight in quarantine, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our daily lives. There’s no shortage of ways in which to contribute to relief efforts by organizations on the COVID-19 front line, including via some of the most beloved fashion brands in Canada. In recent weeks, brands including Mackage and Aritzia have created custom garments to help raise money for coronavirus relief efforts and to support frontline workers, whilst others like Sentaler continue to donate a proceed of their sales to testing and treatment research. So if you’re looking for a way to get involved, and also give your wardrobe a little update, here’s three pieces by Canadian brands to buy now to help you look and feel good:

Montreal-based outerwear brand Mackage has designed a limited edition hoodie to help raise money for United Way Centraide. The Krys hoodie is finished in a bold white hue with velvet rainbow detailing on the logos on the arm and hood. The design was inspired by the Quebec movement that saw rainbows pop up across the city with the phrase, “Ca va bien aller” which means “everything will be alright.” The unisex hoodies – which include a rainwear lining in the hood – are now available for pre-order, and $50 from each sale will be donated to United Way Centraide to help the community’s most vulnerable people.

Aritzia

Earlier this week, Aritzia announced that it was donating $10 million worth of clothing to frontline workers in Canada. As part of the new initiative, the brand has also released ‘sponsor packages’ for consumers to purchase. Available for $100 or $200, for every pack purchased, the brand will donate two more to frontline workers across Canada. And you can never have too many leggings or tees, as we’ve learned well in recent weeks.

Sentaler

Though not one specific item, Sentaler is currently donating 10 per cent of all of its sales to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto to assist with the development of better diagnostic testing and treatments for COVID-19 patients globally. So if you’ve been looking for an excuse to buy a new coat, or are looking to give mom a gift that gives back for Mother’s Day, this is it.
