Striped T-shirts and I go way back. Ever since I found the perfect one at H&M in my first year of university, I haven’t looked back. It was white with black stripes and made me feel very sophisticated. There have been others, of course. An American Apparel red-and-white one deserves a notable mention—it was formfitting and looked great with high-waisted jeans. But my ultimate striped T-shirt? One I bought from Topshop eight years ago and still wear once every week. It hasn’t faded much, is just the right length on my arms and is loose but still tight enough to tuck into my favourite pair of white jeans. I love striped T-shirts. Yes, it’s because they’re a bit French-looking, but it’s also because they’re just a little more interesting than a plain white T-shirt. They draw the eye in more, and they always look great with red lipstick, too. (Don’t ask me why. I have no science to back this up, people.)
