Harry Styles’ Watermelon Sugar Film Clip is Full of Fashion Moments

Harry Styles knew the world needed something right now, and so the former One Direction member released his newest single Watermelon Sugar overnight. Filmed pre-COVID, the film clip for the song begins with a tribute reading, “This video is dedicated to touching,” before proceeding into three minutes of Styles and friends eating watermelon on a beach while sitting very, very close. Styles himself added a warning to his Instagram post writing, “Do not try this at home. Practice social distancing.” And whilst the song is undoubtedly on its way to becoming a summer anthem, our favourite part of the Watermelon Sugar film clip was the fashion, naturally. Known for his boundary-pushing style, Styles and his longtime stylist Harry Lambert curated four standout looks for the video, including a head-to-toe Gucci ensemble consisting of a cropped sweater, jeans and a fringed scarf.

Rocking a floral print shirt from Bode, a pearl necklace and round, clear-lensed Gucci sunglasses, Styles is literally summer in a photograph here.

The film clip features no shortage of statement eyewear, and when combined with this retro printed shirt (and sweater vest) and pink pants, they help to serve up Styles at his heartthrob best.

Cropped crochet vest? Tick. Statement necklace? Tick. ’70s-inspired blue shades? Tick. Obsessed? Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.

And finally, this entire F/W20 look from Gucci that really needs no introduction.

So whilst we’re unsure of the fate of our summer here in Canada, we can all take a leaf out of Styles’ playbook by pulling on some summer-ready separates, cranking a good tune and making out with eating a watermelon at home. Catch the video in full here.
