As autumn collections start to trickle into stores and begin popping up on e-commerce websites, so do all the trends the new season has to offer. While we may have seen several styles and themes come through on the A/W 2020 runways back in February, it’s a whole new ballgame to experience how the trends have been translated once they actually hit the shop floor

Of course, here at Who What Wear we are always keeping an eye on the latest looks, and whether it be clothing or accessories, there are a fair few new trends that have caught our attention for the season ahead. So, what are our editors interested in trying come autumn?

For Shopping Editor, Joy Montgomery it will be knitted sweater vests, a style that was seen on the runways of Prada, Dior and Gucci, while Editor Emma Spedding is looking to invest in a pair of track sole boots. Assistant Editor Elinor Block is keen to try the new take on bodycon, which was popularised by French label Jacquemus, while I personally can’t wait to get my hands on a waist-cinching belted blazer. “I’m probably cheating a bit with my choice of AW20 trend, because I was already well and truly invested in knitted vests back in the winter of 2019. It became my ultimate layering hero over the colder months and so, of course, I’m welcoming it back with open arms for the new season. I’ll be wearing my V-neck cream iteration from H&M over white shirts, jeans and chunky boots for the weekend, then opting for a dark grey or black crew neck style with tailored trousers for a more polished finish.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I love an oversized blazer, but they don’t always work on my petite frame. That’s why this season, I’m planning to invest in the belted blazer trend. Just as cool as its oversize counterpart, though a little bit more flattering for those who prefer a more structure silhouette.”

“There’s no denying that Herve Leger is probably the first name that springs to mind when you say bodycon. Those bandage dresses were the epitome of the early ‘00s party-girl, seen on Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian. I think, as a result, I was a little scared of the notion of this trend, as it felt very not in-keeping with my personal style. But Jacquemus has delivered us bodycon 2.0 and it’s exactly what the fashion industry needs. Less about corsetting your body and more about beautiful fabrics, that just so happen to hug your figure. It’s also no longer about having a certain body type to wear this—embrace your body in all its glory and feel free to embrace your sassiness.”

“Last year I lived in a pair of chunky hiking boots, and this winter I want to take it up a notch with a pair of track sole boots. I love how they look with midi dresses and tights and skinny jeans, and thankfully the high street has so many amazing options. I’m currently deciding between a H&M and & Other Stories pair.”
