Kim Jones is poised to be the next king of fashion. The British designer and current artistic director of Dior Homme has been tapped by the luxury brand’s parent company LVMH as Fendi’s new womenswear artistic director. Jones succeeds Fendi’s previous creative director, the late Karl Lagerfeld, and replaces the house’s interim artistic director, Silvia Venturini Fendi, who will return her focus to accessories and menswear for the brand.

Kim Jones has lead Dior’s menswear vision since 2018 and previously directed menswear at Louis Vuitton, which are both owned by LVMH. The Central Saint Martins alumnus will continue developing Dior’s menswear collections, while taking on a second role at Fendi womenswear. Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH, said in a press statement that Jones “has continuously proven his ability to adapt to the codes and heritage of the LVMH houses while revisiting them with great modernity and audacity.” Jones will also be designing for Fendi’s haute couture and fur collections, in addition to women’s ready-to-wear. His first collection for Fendi womenswear will debut at Milan Fashion Week in February for the Autumn/Winter 2021/2022 season.
