4 Elevated Legging Outfits for When You Can’t Face the Idea of Jeans

October 20, 2020 at 06:05AM

I’m not sure how it happened exactly, but somewhere along the lines, leggings developed somewhat of a bad reputation. A few years ago, the item was relegated to workout looks only, not to be worn outside the context of gym gear or errand running. However, if 2020 has taught us anything, it is that comfort is key, and if leggings are elevated enough to appear on a Chanel runway, they are certainly polished enough for our everyday attire.

If you’re yet to embrace leggings outside the realm of athleisure, may I turn your attention to Instagram, where influencers are managing to incorporate the item in several stylish looks?

From pairing leggings alongside a boxy blazer and belt to wearing them with a cosy shacket and knee-high boots, there are a number of ways the comfy style can feel relevant and on-trend this season. Whether you want to elevate the item using statement accessories (Gergana Ivanova of Fashion Is My Fortee is wearing her leggings with Prada Loafers) or simply enhance their wearability by adding classic wardrobe staples—like a beige trench coat—there is no reason leggings can’t work as a part of your everyday. Keep scrolling to see and shop four legging looks we are loving this season.

Style Notes: Any outfit can feel timeless with the addition of a trench coat. Here, Andrea Steen pairs the classic alongside leggings and calf-height boots.

Style Notes: This is one of my favourite ways to elevate a legging look, by pairing it with an oversize blazer, belted at the waist. So chic.

Style Notes: Chunky loafers are one of this season’s most prominent footwear trends. Here we see the shoe paired with PU leggings and a cosy knit for a brunch-worthy weekend look.

Style Notes: Style alongside knee-high boots and an oversize jacket, and no one will even question whether you’re wearing leggings or jeans.
