As much as we’d like to pretend they haven’t, winter temperatures have well and truly set in. The mercury has dropped, and to be frank, it is well below what a summer-loving Australian like me is used to. I am in need of a heavy dose of winter outfit inspiration, as getting through the coming months will require a lot of planning. Where better to turn than Instagram? From images of cosy coats shot among fallen leaves to envy-inducing fluffy jackets and roll-neck jumper combinations, our set of fashion friends definitely know how to make anyone crave winter dressing.

While winter might not be my season of choice, one thing working in its favour is the fact that it provides more opportunity to experiment with my wardrobe. The abundance of layers required to get through the day inevitably equates to an endless number of outfit combinations, and I can’t deny there is something exciting about that.

Though my 9-to-5 wardrobe is a little more structured, I’ll be spending my winter weekends mixing and matching my favourite pieces to create outfits that prioritise warmth and comfort but don’t lack style. A statement coat and chunky sneakers? Check. A puffer jacket and midi dress? Why not? Scroll through below for nine winter weekend outfits we’ll be trying.

Style Notes:

Style Notes: We’re often disappointed when winter rolls around and we can no longer wear our favourite blazers. Lauren Francine Campbell has found the perfect way to remedy the problem: doubling up on warmth by layering two jackets together.

Style Notes: We’re desperate to keep wearing our favourite midi dresses throughout the colder months, so we’ll be taking Monikh’s lead and pairing them with a chunky puffer jacket and comfy boots.

Style Notes: Though white jeans are often associated with summer dressing, Caitlin Miyako Taylor proves they can look just as chic in the wintertime. Pair them with a roll-neck jumper in a similar shade and finish with neutral-toned outerwear for a minimalist look with style in spades.

Style Notes: There’s nothing quite as classic for a weekend outfit than jeans and sneakers. Here, Fréddie Harrel elevates the look by adding a tailored coat and structured handbag.
