7 Items Jennifer Aniston Always Has in Her Capsule Wardrobe

As someone who tends to stick to a wardrobe of staples—with a daily uniform that consists of a knit sweater, a leather jacket, black jeans and boots—I consider my style icons to be those with a similar classic aesthetic. Okay, you obviously already know from the title of this story, but the legendary Jennifer Aniston is at the top of my list.

TBH, I, like many, have had an infatuation with Jen and her effortless style ever since I first started watching Friends in the ’90s. (I still watch the Netflix repeats every night before I go to bed.) While I coveted her on-camera persona Rachel Green’s ’90s and early ’00s casual-cool looks, it’s Jen’s real-life wardrobe—spanning everything from tried-and-true denim favourites to tailored silhouettes—that’s consistently influenced me. Given her longtime affinity for staples rather than gimmicky trends (mixed with the fact that the ’90s are back with fervour), it’s really no surprise that Jen’s signature silhouette has remained timeless for decades.

In fact, I bet if I had the privilege to go on a little shopping date with Jen (something I do think about on the regular, don’t judge), I imagine we’d each stock up on fresh and forward basics to add to our simple and sophisticated arsenals. Keep scrolling to check out the spring 2020 basics I think Jen would covet based on the essentials that have been working hard in her wardrobe for years. And Jen, if you read this, DM me.

Style Notes: It’s no secret that tossing on a blazer adds instant sophistication to any outfit. Jen is clearly well aware of this (ahem, this sleek fit). I know she’d totally feel all the reworked blazers featuring slouchier fits and classic patterns that just hit the shelves this season.

Style Notes: Jen seems to live in classic denim staples. While she favours a variety of styles, black skinny jeans are definitely a front-runner. Fortunately, there’s a plethora of cool and classic new silhouettes out there for spring 2021.

Style Notes: While we all probably have a variety of black ankle boots in our closets (Jen included), an updated pair to kick off the new season doesn’t hurt. It’s all about those styles that have a little something extra, such as unique heel shapes or mock-croc finishes.

Style Notes: Known for stepping out in midi dresses for events, Jen would likely be interested in the cool midis that are sweeping the fashion world this spring.

Style Notes: The simplest way to make even the most casual ensemble look polished? Toss on a sleek floor-sweeping coat. While I’d suggest a thicker, wool silhouette for winter, it’s all about the lightweight styles for spring.

On Jennifer Aniston: Proenza Schouler dress; Chanel bag. Style Notes: If Jen goes for a bag, it’s often a functional crossbody. With the ladylike-handbag trend making a comeback for spring 2021, she’d 100% covet the fresh offering of modern hands-free styles.

Style Notes: One of Jen’s forever staples just so happens to be one of the key trends for spring. Yep, it’s all about the leather dress. This season, the silhouettes really run the gamut in terms of shape and hue. I could honestly see her in just about every style out there.
