We Can’t Count the Number of WhatsApp Messages We’ve Sent About This Serum

Discovering cult products and learning about new beauty launches is all part of my job, but every now and then, I’ll hear of a more underground beauty discovery that really gets me excited—and that’s exactly what happened this week when a colleague told me that one of her group chats on WhatsApp was popping off because of a sold-out face serum. Apparently, the girls in her chat were singing the praises of a particular product that they claimed was “the ultimate best” but was “perpetually out of stock.” Sad times indeed. So what was this mystical face serum that everyone was going wild for?

The sold-out serum comes courtesy of Beauty Pie—a unique members website that I had previously only considered the shopping domain of beauty junkies and editors like myself. Turns out I was wrong. The Triple Hyaluronic Acid and Peptide Serum retails at £60, but if you sign up to a Beauty Pie membership, you can snag it for just £16. It sounds too good to be true, but seriously—this stuff is excellent.

Described as a “miracle serum for super glowy, dewy, healthy skin” on the Beauty Pie website, I have to admit that it sounds pretty special. Containing three different weights of hyaluronic acid (for a major moisture injection) along with skin-plumping ceramides and smoothing peptides, it’s basically a great serum for all skin types. The reviews speak for themselves, too: “Stock up on this product when you get a chance,” says one reviewer. “Made a difference in one night,” another said. If this isn’t a product with cult status, I don’t know what is.

In good news, though, the serum is currently back in stock on the website but chances are it won’t hang around for long. I caught up with a representative for the brand who told me that loyal customers buy multiple bottles of the stuff when it’s available, so devotees (or even those with a vague interest) should stock up while they can.

This is my personal Beauty Pie serum of choice. I reach for this on mornings when my skin looks dull and tired, as it brightens your complexion fast.

Niacinamide (also known as vitamin B3) is one of those great all-rounder ingredients that does everything from regulating oil production to minimising dark spots. I use this to combat scars left behind from spots and to calm any active breakouts.

A potent serum from a beauty editor-favourite skincare brand. It contains It contains 20% ethylated L-ascorbic acid—a powerful form of vitamin C—to really boost radiance, tackle signs of ageing and smooth your skin.

An affordable skin-brightening option, this serum contains naturally exfoliating AHAs found in the hibiscus plant to improve skin texture and tone.

Much like the much talked-about Beauty Pie serum, this one from Glossier contains three weights of hyaluronic acid for hydration in abundance. It has a lovely silky texture that sinks instantly into the skin and means that it doubles as a great base for makeup.

If you don’t like the feeling of layering multiple products on your skin, then—as the name suggests—this one from Aesop is incredibly lightweight but still manages to hydrate the skin.

Another serum with cult status comes in the form of this exfoliating one from Drunk Elephant, which uses a blend of acids (glycolic, lactic, citric and salicylic) to penetrate pores, remove impurities and slough away dead skin cells.

What would a list of best serums be without the one that started it all? Yes, the cult Advanced Night Repair is a hyaluronic acid–based formula that renews skin overnight.

One of my favourite serums of all times, I have recommended this countless times to anyone that deals with breakouts and blemishes. It has a lovely gel texture that doesn’t feel cloying on the skin, and contains natural salicylic acid to unclog pores and reduce redness.

These No7 serums always have waiting lists as long as your arm before launch, but I guess that means they must be doing something right. This one has an innovative applicator that massages the product into your face and neck to help firm and tone the skin.

This seriously concentrated serum from celebrity facialist Sarah Chapman is for anyone looking to target skin damage, fine lines and loss of firmness in the skin. It rivals the results that you’d find in her salon.

An extension of the brand’s iconic pro-collagen range, this milky gel serum delivers an innovative network of proteins to the skin’s surface to immediately tighten, firm and lift.

Next up, I tried every product from The Ordinary and these are the ones I’d recommend.
