Having spent the last month or two keeping track of any and every summer dress that has drops online, I like to think I’ve become a bit of an authority on the subject, and trust me when I say that COS’ 2021 offering is, so far, leading the charge. This is, however, not a collection for the floral fanatics of the world, because in true COS style, it’s all about clean-lines, colour-blocking appeal and a ‘less-is-more’ mantra. Yes, these dresses might stick to simpler silhouettes, but if anything this only makes them look chicer (in my humble opinion), and I think this aesthetic restraint is often the key factor in making a high street item look premium. I have also been impressed by the sheer variety on offer this season—if you’re an absolute style purist you’ll be more than content with the monochrome shirt dresses in cool linen fabrics and throw-on-and-go T-shirt dresses. However, if you crave a little colour then there’s plenty to choose from: Think vibrant tangerine, acrylic blue and grass green.
