One of the things I always love the most about this season is abandoning the many layers (so long, puffer!), and revisiting my dress wardrobeNew-in sections are helping me indulge in my dress daydreaming, as every day is bringing with it new summery items to scroll through. Floral tea dresses and check midi dresses are hardly groundbreaking, but these throw-on styles always sell out at record speed. Lots of the dresses around for spring 2021 have plenty of chuck-on appeal, meaning they are comfortable enough to wear at home, for reunion drinks at the pub or for daily laps of the park.

There are five types of dresses in particular that I think will be a welcome addition to any wardrobe this spring. Keep scrolling to see my edit of the best dresses I’ve spotted so far for spring 2021.

Whether it’s floral, checked or striped, printed dresses will always be a spring staple. Below I’ve found some beautiful options from Ganni, Rixo and Ghost.

Sometimes it’s best to keep things simple, and for spring you can’t beat a white or beige midi dress. This season, these “plain” dresses are made interesting with detailing, such as playful textures, tie detailing and exaggerated sleeves.

If a year in loungewear has taught us anything, it’s that comfort is a really important factor when getting dressed. Knitted dresses are still going strong for S/S 21, whether you opt for a long cardigan, wrap dress or something a little slinkier.

Denim dresses are another spring staple, and this year they were a key item for designers like Gabriela Hearst and Wales Bonner. There really is a denim dress for everyone, from fitted midi dresses with a ’50s silhouette to oversize denim shirts.

If you’ve been reading Who What Wear recently, you’ll know that the colour of spring 2021 is pink, so it’s no surprise that new-in sections are already awash with pretty pink spring dresses.
