Legendary Harlem fashion designer and haberdasher Dapper Dan announced his collaboration with all-American clothing brand Gap earlier this month as a part of the company’s “American Dream” spring 2022 campaign. With the first launch of the original coral hoodie selling out in just five minutes, the two icons of American style are releasing a second drop, giving fans another chance to snag the coveted fashion item.

Dap meets Gap with a fresh, clever take on the nostalgic Gap arch logo hoodie, a limited edition style that simply replaces ‘GAP’ with ‘DAP’, albeit in exciting new colorways like golden yellow, rose pink, sky blue, and black in a diverse size range from XS to XXXL.

One of the most highly respected names in fashion, Daniel Day – famously known as Dapper Dan – revolutionized urban streetwear in 1980s Harlem. The 77-year old gained popularity when he began creating unique designs featuring logos from high-end fashion houses, most notably Gucci. His intricate designs ultimately birthed one of the most beloved fashion trends of today: logomania. Notable hip-hop stars and singers including LL Cool J, JAY-Z, Salt-N-Pepa, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter are among his distinguished clientele.

The concept of making luxury accessible for everyone is nothing new for the fashion mogul, and this Gap collaboration is no exception. “Gap is like pizza, everybody eats pizza. And everybody at some point or another is going to bring a pie home,” Dapper Dan told Complex Magazine in an interview. “That’s what Gap represents. It represents that part of food that we all relate to. Gap speaks to all of us, but it’s a part of who I am and who we all are. So I love that.”

Retailing at only $98, the collection is truly for everyone. You can pre-order the collection exclusively at Gap online now. Keep scrolling to browse through the campaign.
