Blake Lively stepped out in a summer-ready look her “Gossip Girl” character, Serena van der Woodsen, would wear in a heartbeat. The actress was spotted on Saturday, June 4, on a trip to the nail salon in New York City in a white cotton mini sundress featuring a flowing skirt and a plunging neckline she left unbuttoned for a peek at the white bralette worn underneath. She teamed the design with a matching knee-length cardigan with long sleeves and opted for comfort with white Nike Air Force 1 sneakers printed with a gray gingham motif.

Lively accessorized with a dainty pendant shell necklace, a white Fendi Flowerland Peekaboo bag, and a pair of round sunglasses by New Orleans-based eyewear brand Krewe. She styled her blond hair into a low ponytail held together by a small claw clip, giving the casual look a Y2K sensibility.

This laid-back style moment comes weeks after a fashion-packed May, during which the 34-year-old star cochaired the 2022 Met Gala in a show-stopping ensemble. In line with the “Gilded Glamour” theme, she donned a color-changing floor-length Atelier Versace gown, complete with a billowing train. Later that evening, she stuck to the same aesthetic in a fitted red minidress, also by Versace, and, prior to the big day, she captured on-theme elements in a pre-Met Gala Thom Browne look that was half suit, half sequin gown.

The actress famously told WWD that she is her own stylist, working closely with designers to create attention-grabbing looks. In a recent Vogue video, she explained how her buzzy costumes in “Gossip Girl” continue to inspire her sartorial choices, so it’s no wonder she channeled Serena van der Woodsen with her latest look. The relaxed getup displays the carefree confidence and effortlessness exuded by the protagonist she played.
