Oh, spring. I don’t think we’ve ever been more desperate to welcome your arrival. My personal enthusiasm was evident when I spent the entirety of London Fashion Week freezing due to optimistically wearing light jackets, only to realise that February was, in fact, still very much in winter mode. But I have it under very good authority (i.e. the BBC weather app) that the new season is right around the corner, which means I can justifiably start planning my spring outfits—with a little help from NET-A-PORTER, of course.

I am a firm believer in low-effort-maximum-impact outfits, and this approach was front of mind as I scrolled through NET-A-PORTER’s new-season edit. After 24 months of knitted trousers, it’s fair to say that I’m ready to embrace some personality pieces, but this needn’t be at the detriment of comfort and versatility. One of my favourite ways to bring interest to an outfit is to inject a bit of colour. For example, Christopher John Rogers’s Kermit green shirt will be so easy to throw on with jeans but will instantly add a S/S 22 twist.

I also plan on playing around with outfit proportions this season, and luckily, the 2022 midi skirt is perfect for this. Forget fussy femininity because it’s all about bringing out the skirt’s punk vibes via oversized knits (JW Anderson’s neon buy is just too cool) and chunky loafers. If paintbox brights aren’t your forte, then why not look to the Wild West for inspiration? Halfboy’s fringed suede jacket will look suitably dramatic when thrown over Chloé’s ankle-skimming maxi dress and Saint Laurent riding boots.

So if you’re looking for some spring outfit inspo, feel free to use my NET-A-PORTER looks to get your creative juices flowing. Scroll down to see my picks.

Style Notes: Add interest to a pair of white jeans by adding a vibrant colour-pop shirt. Christopher John Rogers’s Kermit green number will do the job nicely.

Style Notes: Channel your inner cowboy this season with a suede fringed jacket courtesy of Halfboy. Give it a spring-ready finish by layering it over Chloé’s dreamy, crocheted white midi dress and a pair of riding-inspired knee-high boots.

Style Notes: Even if you’re a skirt-ambivalent person, you might find this year’s offering a little more appealing. Take Loewe’s asymmetric style, which is given a punk twist with a neon knit and chunky loafers.

Style Notes: Fashion minimalists will adore both the leather-biker and tailored-trouser trends this season, and as luck would have it, they look pretty darn good together, too. Handy, right?
