Fasten your seat belts and get ready for quite the trip down memory lane, folks. Today’s conductor is none other than Kim Kardashian, who recently served up a heavy dose of nostalgia by sharing old fitting photos with her social media followers. Kim rediscovered the throwback snaps while organizing her picture collection (a common at-home activity these days, TBH) and couldn’t resist posting them in an Instagram gallery for all to see. “So many good gems in here!” she captioned the post.
The slideshow includes eight outfits that will immediately give you flashbacks to the 2000s (hello, chunky belts and statement necklaces!). Seeing as I’m a sucker for reminiscing on fashion trends from days past, I had to break things down look by look. Please join me on this journey by getting my unasked-for commentary on each outfit ahead.
1. The Maxi Dress
It seems as though Kim wanted to ease into this walk down memory lane by starting with the simplest look: a pinkish-red maxi dress. A 2000s staple for weddings and beyond, hers appears to be made of stretchy jersey-type material, and it features a scooped neckline, thick straps, and draped skirt. I’ll bet she styled it with flip-flop heels and a swipe of Lancome’s Juicy Tube lip gloss back in the day.
2. The Strapless Minidress With Tulle Detailing
Honestly, I’m not entirely opposed to this one. It sort of reminds me of something a Project Runway contestant might whip up during a challenge. The tulle ruffles cascade down the back like a waterfall, and she styled the dress with neutral patent leather pumps, obviously.
3. The Vest-Over-Dress Combo
OK, now we’re finally getting to the good stuff – and by good I mean very quintessentially 2000s. Kim paired a neutral dress (featuring a bubble hem, might I add) with a black vest and tied it all together with a blinged-out belt. She finished the look with a gold watch, giant gemstone ring, and brown strappy heels.
4. The Patterned Skirt and Denim Jacket
Ah yes, the classic skirt, tank top, and denim jacket combination – a go-to choice for slightly fancy weekend dinner dates with the fam. Kim’s version features a pink floral skirt that appears to be straight from the racks at Anthropologie – oh, and a popped jacket collar, of course.
5. The Circle Skirt and Leather Top
There are a lot of moving parts here, so let’s take things from the top down. Kim wore a leather top (or perhaps jacket?) over a gray tank and tucked into a navy blue circle skirt. She brought the top and bottom together with a 2000s must-have – the studded belt – and finished the look with strappy metallic heels. I can so picture her wearing this outfit while out and about with Paris Hilton.
6. The White Tee and Green Skirt
In her sixth fitting photo, Kim paired a baggy white blouse with a satiny, high-waisted green skirt and statement necklace she may or may not have scored at Urban Outfitters. Her shiny platform heels are the type that definitely graced the red carpet back in the 2000s.
7. The Peplum Dress
I mean, you’ve gotta love a good peplum dress, am I right? Especially when it features frilly sleeves and a cinched waist band in a contrasting color.
8. The Blazer and Skirt Combo
Last but most certainly not least, Kim paired a satiny going-out top with a zip-up skirt, oversize blazer, and statement necklace for her eighth and final fitting snap. Is it just me or is this outfit something she would’ve worn while stopping by Dash boutique with Kourtney and Khloe? Oh, and please take note of the phone in her left hand – what a freakin’ throwback.
