Meghan Markle has been pals with fashion designer Misha Nonoo for quite some time, which is why we didn’t find it odd to discover she made use of Misha’s “Husband” shirt to send out a subtle message about her relationship with Prince Harry at just the right time. It’s also the reason she tapped Misha to be part of her charity clothing collection, The Smart Set, just last year. And, yes, it’s why she attended the 2015 CFDA Awards with the fashion designer at Spring Studios in New York, wearing this silver metallic minidress, aptly titled the “liquid metal” Valerie dress.
Looking back, Misha dressed Meghan for the occasion at a time when her acting career was taking off and she was starring on Suits – hence the silhouette of the dress, perhaps, which was a fresh and modern twist on tuxedo dressing. She coordinated it with a lucite box clutch, chunky rings, and patent and PVC mules for her walk down the red carpet, right by Misha’s side. I’ll never stop thinking about this look, and I want to bring it back at this moment in time, mostly because it’s another example of how Meghan uses fashion to mirror what’s going on in her life, even if in the subtlest of ways.
Scroll through to reminisce about this major style moment for Meghan, then shop some inspired pieces like the Valerie, since the older design is now unfortunately sold out. Then, sit back and wait for another hidden gem to be revealed about a Meghan outfit choice – we welcome the nostalgia with open arms.
