Seeing how runway trends will transition into real life is always exciting. At the start of every season, we share with you our insights on what the defining trends of the next six months will be, but how they actually pan out on the streets is anyone’s guess. Take pink, for example. It was easily the most prevalent colour in the spring collections, with models wearing the shade top-to-toe. It was even slicked across their eyes, dabbed on their cheeks, and blotted on their lips. Now, we may not wear the shade with such vigour, but we might choose to tap into the aesthetic by way of a dress or an accessory—an interpretation if you will. And here, we’re going to discover how some of our favourite influencers are interpreting spring’s top trends.

Since they’re always providing us with endless outfit inspiration, we’re keen to see which buys, looks, and, yes, trends, influencers take to. Of the dozens of trends that emerged on the spring/summer 2022 runways, seven, in particular, prove to be a hit among the fashion set. Scroll below to see how influencers are wearing spring trends now. Then shop the pieces you need to achieve their incredible outfits.

Style Notes: Maxi hemlines were all the rage on the runways, in both skirt and dress forms. Although minis are also proving popular, I’m definitely seeing a shift in fashion-girl sensibilities towards maxis.

Style Notes: Joy was a recurring theme on the S/S 22 runways, as bold and playful hues splashed on floor-length dresses and statement suiting alike. None, however, were quite as prevalent as this punchy pink or, as Valentino has coined it Pink PP.

Style Notes: After two years spent largely in leggings and joggers, it’s little wonder that comfort was at the forefront of many designer collections. Wide-leg trousers kept cropping up, as did slouchy blazers to match, and is hands down one of the easiest trends to incorporate into your daily wears. Just ask Fisayo.

Style Notes: Shoe trends are some of the trends that excite me they most—namely as they’re one of the easiest to implement into your own wardrobe. Although practical styles are still reigning—think fisherman sandals and running shoes—on the opposite end of the footwear spectrum, people practically falling over themselves for platforms. Valentino was just one of the brands to showcase them on the runway, with its ankle-strap pair now being one of the most in-demand buys of the season.

Style Notes: Plissé pleating—the thin, almost crinkled pleats most commonly found on co-ords and dresses—has been a fixture on the style agenda this year, though I predict its popularity will peak this spring. Why? Because it looks so darn chic and expensive.

Style Notes: Though the combination of black and white will never go out of style, the pairing keeps appearing for spring 2022. Make like Monikh and do it in linen and cotton for a cool spin on heatwave dressing.

Style Notes: You only need to have glanced at Instagram once in the last three months to know that tweed textures are everywhere. For 2022, the traditional fabrication has had a glow-up in bright hues—that, or influencers are styling their classic bouclé with highlighter shades.
