Millie Bobby Brown’s past Converse By You collaborations have always celebrated individuality. From high-tops with playful “Be You” patches to unique tie-dye Chucks with a psychedelic twist, we’ve been more impressed each time she drops a new collection. But right smack in the middle of Women’s History Month, Brown has outdone herself.
It took six months for her to collaborate with 20-year-old Thai design student and multi-disciplinary artist Pauline Wattanodom, who was hand selected by Brown from the All Star family of community members and illustrators. Millie shared a fun video that briefly recaps what went into all the Zoom calls and chats about what a sneaker that represents women empowerment would look like. The result is customizable Chuck Taylor All Stars, with a platform or without ($100 vs $90), in a limited edition color palette developed by the duo. The screen print patch of two hands linked by pinky fingers and charm bracelets, is a symbol for love and progress, and you can jazz up your shoes even more with a personal ID.
“To me, fashion is such a strong expression of who we are as girls and it does contribute greatly to our sense of identity. Empowered women empower women. The more people empower me, the more I want to empower people. That’s a never-ending cycle of amazing women, like Pauline,” she said in a press release provided by the brand.
To this day, Millie is still Converse’s youngest-ever collaborator and perhaps their most dedicated as a UNICEF ambassador, role model, and activist who uses her platform to support women around the world. Ahead, you can see how she and Pauline imagine the shoes being worn as they model for the campaign imagery, and shop the sneakers, which are available onโฏ
