I’m a huge fan of two- and three-piece swimsuit sets, mostly because you can mix and match the separates with the rest of your wardrobe – seamlessly working the printed button-downs and sarong skirts into your at-home athleisure style. With a handful of new swim releases to talk about come full-fledged beach outfits that include extra coverage thanks to this trend. Harley Viera-Newton’s label HVN just released her own iteration in the adorable cherry print above, complete with a wrap skirt. And some of our favorite brands in resortwear, such as Andrea Iyamah and Montce, have been coordinating bikini and one-piece patterns with cover-ups, caftans, and loose, flowy pants for years, churning out fresh looks for 2020.
It’s safe to say this trend has gone above and beyond the retail space, because our Instagram feeds are now filled with the likes of Frankies Bikinis‘s signature terry cloth combinations and Solid + Striped’s relaxed bowling shirts, which top off some of the brand’s most classic maillots. This “collect-them-all” swim separates approach certainly might cost you a few extra dollars, but then again, you could argue that the versatility of these designs make them a solid investment beyond the summer months.
