I’m not really sure when I first smelled the Boy Smells Ash candle. I think I was having one of my regular candle sniffing sessions at Selfridges, London and came across the brand, which I had become aware of after the launch of their famed Kush candle. I guess I was perusing the shelves and was struck by Ash, a concoction of firewood, smoke, charcoal, palo santo and hay. It was purchased immediately, and thus began my obsession with Boy Smells. I counted my tally before sitting down to write this and it’s at 7– I admit, it’s an obscene amount for a tiny London living space but I confess this so you understand how much of huge fan I am. So, when I saw that Boy Smells launched their genderful fine fragrances into the UK market, finally I had to try them out.
I think one the best things about the brand, which was founded in Los Angeles in 2015, is that so many of the scents can be paired beautifully; once you work out the notes that you love, you can kind of build a scent story through your living space. Don’t get me wrong the scent is strong, you don’t need to burn multiple candles but if you want to it makes the aroma even more captivating it’s amazing. Persnally, I love to burn Ash and Hinoki Fantôme at the same time for a sexy, woody warmth in Winter. However, this isn’t the case with the fragrance– I have three that I adore, but I have to wear them individually, they aren’t made to pair with each other or layer they are distinctly separate but last all day and then some especially on clothes, my home and wardrobe is basically a cacophony of Boy Smells scents at this point. Take a look below to see my can’t-live-without Boy Smells picks including their fragrances.
