This $35 Old Navy Button-Down Was My Smartest Purchase in a While

Scroll through my Pinterest feed, and you’ll see an overabundance of fashion girls clad in white button-down shirts. Occasionally, I come across the versatile top tucked into a pair of jeans or trousers – or perhaps paired with a satin skirt for a more elevated vibe. As obsessed as I’ve been with these ‘fits, I never actually purchased a white button-down – until now.

A big part of my job is scouring Old Navy for products destined to become bestsellers, so I decided to give the brand’s Oversized Boyfriend Long-Sleeve Shirt ($35) a try. The price was right, and it had a ton of great reviews – including one that praised the shirt for being “so comfortable.” I value comfort as much as aesthetics, so you can bet that’s what convinced me to add the piece to my shopping cart.

When it arrived, I (obviously) had to wear it immediately. I attempted the French tuck with a pair of my favorite blue flare jeans; as a finishing touch to my simple yet stylish fit, I added a gold necklace and earrings. Naturally, I snapped a few photos while my corgi gave me judgmental stare.

The verdict: while I’m mildly upset that I didn’t invest in a white button-down earlier, I’m glad to have officially changed that. It helps that this is the most comfortable button-down I’ve ever tried on – all the pieces I tested in the past were either too stiff or tight in places they shouldn’t be.

If you also end up becoming obsessed with this shirt, you’ll be happy to hear that it also comes in yellow and blue (dubbed Sun Worship and Flax Flower, respectively) – both of which are perfect for spring.

A final note: act fast if you want to add this button-down to your wardrobe. It’s highly rated on the brand’s website – it has a near-perfect five-star rating – and is known to sell out alarmingly fast. Since I don’t have a crystal ball to predict if and when the brand will restock anytime soon, my advice is to make moves while you can.
