For the longest time, I felt I was on the outside looking in on the slip-dress trend. I’m busty and prefer to wear a bra at all times, but when you’re a 32G, even strapless bras can peek out over the top of your dresses. So I resigned myself to the fact that, as much as I loved them, slip dresses were a trend I’d have to sit out on. Then along came Ghost’s Palm Dress.
Since breaking out on the fashion scene, Ghost has become one of my all-time-favourite dress brands. I own its iconic Jenna Dress in three colourways (blue, black and pink, in case you’re wondering), which I managed to snap up in various sales. I’ve also recently dabbled in the Luella, which is just as excellent. However, out of all Ghost dresses, the Palm has perhaps piqued my excitement the most. As I’ve alluded, it’s a slip dress, but one with a subtle V-point scoop neckline and straps thick enough to wear over even my comfiest bra. If I could have designed my perfect slip dress, it would look exactly like this.
After its Palm dress sold out last summer, Ghost has reissued the style in three versatile colourways—black, ivory and rose. When the dress first launched, literally two weeks ago, stock levels in the black and ivory were quickly depleted on Ghost’s website (though I have found some in stock via John Lewis & Partners). Having learned from my mistakes, I made sure to get my hands on it this time around—and it has not disappointed. As handy and versatile as I thought it would be, I just know I’m going to live in this dress throughout spring and summer.
I opted for the ivory shade, which blends in seamlessly with my largely neutral wardrobe palette. However, I’m keen to wear more colour this year, so I am considering investing in the pretty Rosette iteration. Not one to leave anything to chance, I decided to put the Ghost Palm dress to the visual test by creating outfit builds around it. Takingpieces similar to items I already own, I wanted to ensure I would adequate wear out of it. In just a matter of minutes, I whipped up five stylish looks to see me through every spring occasion.
Turns out there is absolutely a place for this blush-pink beauty in my wardrobe. So from after-dark drinks to springtime soirées, scroll on to see five ways I intend on wearing Ghost’s Palm Dress (aka the most versatile dress of the year). Then, at the end, I’ve included all of the shades for you to choose from. Happy browsing!
