My old apartment had a scary bathroom that I hated using. To avoid it, I’d book evening hot yoga classes at Y7 Studio so I could shower there. The shower lines are much shorter in the evening, and the Malin+Goetz shower gel they provide smells so good you forget all about the 60 minutes you spent slipping around in your own sweat. Boutique studios have seriously upped the gym locker room game—so much that you may go out of your way to shower at the gym.
If you’re ever out of shampoo, or, like me, have a bathroom straight out of a horror film, you can literally just shower at the gym. Where is the best place to go, you ask? We’ve got you covered.
The 7 best-stocked boutique studios locker rooms for showering at the gym
best body lotion: EQUINOX
While not exactly boutique, Equinox set this luxe standard when they partnered with Kiehl’s back in 2009. The Crème de Corps ($40) is a real stand-out. It’s packed with ingredients like beta-carotene, cocoa butter, and sesame, which fight free radicals, moisturize and soften the skin, respectively. It’s so good, one of our writers swears by it to nourish her dry skin.
Best serums: THE CLASS BY TARYN TOOMEY
I don’t know about you, but Chanel serums aren’t exactly at the top of my restock list. Feel like a French girl and do your skin routine at The Class by Taryn Toomey. Pat on the Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Sérum ($110), made with hyaluronic acid to keep your skin hydrated and plump, or Le Blanc Sérum ($195), perfect for revitalizing dull skin and treating dark spots.
Best perfume: SOULCYCLE
When Le Labo announced its collaboration with SoulCycle in 2017, it was a HUGE deal. Back then, the Bergamote 22 ($189) perfume was exclusive to the cycling studio. Though you can now buy the scent elsewhere, applying it in-studio comes with a bit of nostalgia.
Best shampoo and conditioner: BARRY’S BOOTCAMP
While you might be able to make it through pilates or barre without becoming a sweaty mess, the same cannot be said for Barry’s Bootcamp. Which kinda works out, because you’re going to want to use the Oribe hair care products. The showers are stocked with the brand’s Signature Shampoo ($44), and Signature Conditioner ($44), both formulated to help detangle and silken your hair.
Best face wipes: Y7 STUDIO
There’s nothing worse than staining a towel with your foundation during a sweaty workout. At Y7 Studio, you can grab an Ursa Major Essential Face Wipes ($24), to get you ready for class. We love these wipes not only because they’re biodegradable and cruelty-free, but also because they hydrate your skin while cleansing, so you’re not left feeling dry.
Best moisturizer: RUMBLE
After punching away at a bag for the better part of an hour, it’s nice to to reach for a soothing product, and Rumble supplies just that. There, you’ll find Nubian Heritage’s African Black Soap Facial Moisturizer ($17), waiting for you after your sweat sesh. Palm ash and plantain peel work to remove impurities, while shea butter and oat bran extract leave your skin baby soft. And even though it’s formulated for oily skin, it’s rich enough to make dry skin happy.
Best showers: BRRRN
If you love all your products and are just in desperate need of decent water pressure and a relaxing shower, hit up cold-workout studio Brrrn. A warm rain shower is just what you need after a chilly workout.
