Anna de Lanoy Meijer and Nina Poot know a thing or two about chic home interiors. After all, they are the founders of Anna + Nina, a jewellery, clothing and homewares label, where one-third of their brand is dedicated to creating intricate additions for your home interior.

Earlier this Spring, the co-founders took to Who What Wear UK’s Instagram to reveal their tips on how to create the ultimate table setting, and their advice was so good we couldn’t just let it disappear in 24 hours when the Live Story did. From their more-is-more aesthetic to their tips on clashing prints, below, the founders outline the ways in which they like to set their tables in order to bring that true restaurant feel to their homes. After all, as they noted on Instagram, “These days, we can not go out to a restaurant. So let’s let the restaurant come to us!”

So whether you’re in the market for a few new placemats, some talking-point cutlery, a centerpiece candle holder or simply want to know how to bring all these items together, keep scrolling for four tips on how to create the perfect table setting.

“To us, there are no rules. Your dinner should be a party, and your table should look like one. Mix and match. Find a print, a table cloth or a napkin that you love, and work around it. We believe in more is more and love to combine different patterns, stripes and colours with each other to create that WOW effect.”

“Someone once said spring is nature’s way of saying let’s party! I love that. This table looks like spring. We love all sorts of porcelain with fruit on it. We are in love with the bright colours that work in combination with the food you serve. It’s fruitylicious!”

“If you want to invest in something for your table, I would say invest in a beautiful candle holder or a vase. Candles and flowers are what make the table and you want it to draw attention.”

“These days, we can not go out to a restaurant. So let’s let the restaurant come to us! This table was inspired by the Côte d’Azur. Different shades of blue and lavender make it feel like a fresh summer breeze.”
