Last week, I broke down the influence of Pluto and Saturn’s proximity to one another in Capricorn. Given the fact that both Pluto and Saturn make a trine to the sun, Mercury, Mars, and Venus this month, it’s essential to know how to leverage this opportunity to stabilize your momentum as you continue to move in the direction of your dreams. Doing so will help you make the most of this year’s Virgo season.
Yet, this month brings another defining astrological event of 2019: the mutable square between Neptune and Jupiter. We experienced this square throughout the year; however, it perfected on January 13, 2019, June 16, 2019, and will for the third time, again, on September 21, 2019. We feel it building now.
Everything you need to know about this week’s mutable square
Neptune in Pisces—a transit that spans from Neptune’s initial entrance into Pisces in April of 2011 until it reaches Aries in March of 2025—brings with it an expanded focus on spiritual development. While traveling in its domain, Neptune beckons the exploration of what it means to be emotionally healthy and spiritually aligned, and in sync with your creative expression and intuitive prowess.
This month brings another defining astrological event of 2019: the mutable square between Neptune and Jupiter.
Jupiter, on the other hand, is a much quicker-moving planet. Jupiter has traveled in Sagittarius (a sign it also rules) since November 8, 2018. It will continue to travel in the sign of the archer until December 2, 2019. Jupiter, in its home domain of Sagittarius, brings an expanded focus on growth, inspiring optimism, hope, and even athleticism.
The squaring of these two planets asks for unbridled creative expression. They command spiritual expansion. They ask for you to sweat your prayers to the best heart-pumping music you can listen to. And they can also amplify feelings of anxiety, especially if you lack an outlet for the creative expansion this clash commands.
Without proper self-care and acknowledgment of this challenge, this transit can feel like plummeting to the bottom of the ocean and needing to swim back to the top—now. Though it’s draining, being in over your head encourages significant growth. And on the positive side of things, as I already stated, this alignment helps you to master your emotions. But it also means acknowledging where you might be overwhelmed.
Thankfully, the week ahead bodes productive transits that help you become victorious! Saturn, the planet of structure and discipline, remains in an ideal angle with the sun. Don’t be afraid to take the time-tested approach, and stick to brass-tacks protocols. You got this.
Day-by-day advice for this cosmically intense week
Sunday: As the week kicks off—especially on Sunday, when the sun in Virgo squares Jupiter in Sagittarius—allow yourself to reconcile where you’ve become off-center. How can you utilize the season of grounded, pragmatic Virgo to move back to balance without giving up or losing sight of your dreams?
Monday: Mars (the planet of action, in fastidious Virgo) makes a luscious and divinely helpful trine to Saturn. Yes! This connection amplifies the ability to make steady and stable progress on behalf of your goals. So, take concrete action as the week takes flight. You can get so much done now.
Tuesday: The sun perfects its opposition to Neptune, providing the perfect conditions for an extended meditation practice. Neptune brings the ability to connect to oneness and spirituality up an octave. Tap into your compassion and open up your heart.
Wednesday and Thursday: Mars, the planet of action which continues to travel in Virgo trines the south node of past karmas but squares Neptune. This combination asks you to look at the lessons you are learning before proceeding forwarding.
Friday: The sun perfects her trine to Pluto amplifying incredible power while Venus and Mars conjoin. This combination incites a brilliant rectification of how one might wield their influence in the world. Venus and Mars’ alignment beckons a sincere reconciliation of the ego and asks you to use your energy on behalf of being of service.
Oh and did we mention there’s a full moon too?
The full moon in Pisces perfects on Saturday, September 14, at 12:32 a.m. at 21 degrees of Pisces. So we’ll honor the full moon on Friday (since it perfects just after midnight).
This full moon brings your spiritual prowess to full force.
After all, the full moon conjoins Neptune in Pisces and opposes the sun in Virgo (Mars travels in very close proximity to the sun in Virgo, directly opposing Neptune and the full moon too.) With the full moon in Pisces so close to Neptune, this is the absolute perfect time to ramp up your meditation practice and connect with your inner knowing—aka your intuition.
To understand how to use this full moon to its full potential, think back to the new moon that seeded this full moon on March 17, 2018.
To understand how to use this full moon to its full potential, think back to the new moon that seeded this full moon on March 17, 2018. The new moon in Pisces then provided you the opportunity to plant a new beginning in the domain of Pisces, which you should see evidence of now.
What dreams did you set in motion then that you are required to tend to now? Goals require devotion, and this full moon wants you to stay committed to your dreams. Looking forward, this cycle of creation comes full circle when we have the waning quarter moon in Pisces on June 13, 2020. So ask yourself this: Where do you want to be in June 2020? And, how can you best set yourself up for success then, given exactly where you are now?
Last words for the week: Do. The. Work. Now.
Mutable signs prepare for change. They ask you to bend without breaking. They lead you to consider new perspectives and ideas. They invite you to open up our periphery and your sight, to understand and digest more than you may’ve previously felt prepared to.
With the mutable square happening this week, Pisces represents dreams and your ability to cultivate your most excellent sense of compassion for yourself and others. While very spiritual, when out of balance it can lead to overindulgence in behaviors that promote escapism—think alcohol, oversleeping, indulging in fantasy, and taking on other people’s dramas to avoid working on yourself, for example.
Remember, we are in Virgo season—a sign that commands service and attention to details. It doesn’t want you to check out (even, kind of). Instead, it calls you in. It asks how you can work harder, apply yourself more fully, and stay in integrity with your hopes, dreams, and wishes.
This full moon invites you to stay devoted to your most aligned intentions and not check out while you move into an, even more, more profound commitment to your spiritual growth.
You will likely feel the angst to grow and transcend the barriers of your current existence. If so, lean in.
Add to this the fact that Jupiter’s position in Sagittarius squares the sun, moon, Neptune, and Mars. Meaning: the Jupiter-square-Neptune dynamic comes full throttle, highlighted by the intensity of the sun in Virgo, and full moon in Pisces. Sagittarius, the other mutable sign in full effect here (due to Jupiter’s placement), encourages a go-big mentality. Given that it squares the sun and moon during this full moon, you will likely feel the angst to grow and transcend the barriers of your current existence. If so, lean in.
However, because of the mutable T-square, this full moon will likely ask for a pivot in your approach to getting things done. Consider what you need to shed or release so that you can feel lighter in your approach to obtaining your goals, dreams, and desires.
Keep in mind that in the background of this remains Pluto and Saturn in a productive angle to all of the planets in Virgo, as well as the moon and Neptune in Pisces. So, please understand, the vast experience remains very grounded even with a mutable T-square layered upon it.
