My Current Favorite Dresses Are All Under $50, But You’d Never Know It

Ask anyone who sees me on a regular basis, and they’ll tell you I almost exclusively wear dresses when the weather allows it. The honest reason is that they’re the easiest item to throw on while still looking put-together. I also find dresses to be one of the most comfortable options when the weather takes a turn for the hot and sticky, especially in comparison to my other go-to: denim.

Not that you necessarily needed further convincing, but I’m definitely not the only one on the daily dress-wearing train. Besides loungewear, I almost exclusively scroll through dress outfits on my Instagram feed. Currently, I’ve got my eyes on Niké Ojekunle, a Nigerian-born and L.A.-based fashion and skincare blogger who tells me her polished style is loosely inspired by Old Hollywood. She also tells me that some of my recent favorite looks from her feed are shoppable at Walmart, which means they’re surprisingly affordable, not that you’d ever be able to tell. Shop her two favorite current looks below (including some excellent sandals), as well as seven more under-$50 dress picks.

Ojekunle and I are on the same page when it comes to warm weather style. “I love wearing dresses year round but especially during spring and summer because it allows for easy breeziness,” she tells me. Laugh at the cliché if you must, but it’s so true. I never spend more than 15 minutes on my dress outfits, and I always get the most compliments on them. Her first choice is a short-sleeve eyelet option that has a built-in belt for added styling capabilities.

I love how she chose a bold shoe to balance out the neutral dress shade, but truly any footwear option is fair game here. “The white dress will definitely be restyled with a straw hat and nude flats at some point,” Ojekunle says.

Speaking of versatility, Ojekunle actually talks a lot about cost per wear on her Instagram. “I do a segment called #1Item2Ways to show how to style one piece in several different ways,” she explains. Take this blue midi dress for example. There are endless ways to style this piece, whether it’s with neutral accessories, as shown here, everyday white sneakers, matching blue sandals—the list goes on.

Besides the versatility of this dress, what I personally love about it is the print. It’s not quite a floral print and it’s not quite an animal print, but it’s eye-catching no less. The ruffle details don’t hurt either.

Yes, that blue dress does in fact come in another color—and here it is.

This breezy dress will be perfect for over 80 degree days.

Tie-dye is arguably the most fun trend at the moment.

Wrap dresses are a favorite for a reason.

There’s a 100% chance you’ll spot me wearing this midi dress with white sneakers in the future.

This dress gets bonus points for having pockets.

The buttons add just the right amount of polish to this otherwise casual midi dress.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: Polka dots are here to stay.

I love anything with a built in belt, like this long sleeve floral dress. It adds just the right amount of polish and shape.

I’ll let you know when I’m tired of animal print, but until then, allow me to share this leopard minidress.

I love this modern version of a classic denim dress.
