Edmonton’s Buff Wax Spot has released an at-home wax kit that gives back to charity
With beauty salon services still shuttered, many of us have been forced to take our personal grooming matters – like long-lasting hair removal – into our own hands. And Buff Wax Spot founder, Sina Zere, has been paying close attention. After receiving multiple requests from clients, the Edmonton-based waxing pro has released her very own at-home wax kit with all of the necessary hair removal essentials: Buff Wax Spot’s beloved no-strip hard wax housed in a ready-to-use, microwave-safe beaker; pre- and post-wax care products (skin cleanser, skin oil and soothing aloe vera), wax applicators, cotton rounds and handy instructions. Now, we know: The actual act of DIY waxing can be downright intimidating. Thankfully, Zere has also been sharing how-to videos on Buff Wax Spot’s Instagram account for tackling various body zones. Available Canada-wide directly from the company website for a limited time, the wax kit is only $30 with 10% of all sales donated to the Edmonton Food Bank.
L’Oréal Paris announced that model and activist Cindy Bruna is the beauty giant’s latest spokesperson
L’Oréal Paris has expanded its roster of beauty muses to include French model Cindy Bruna. A regular in-demand name on some of the hottest designer runways, Bruna joins the likes of Celine Dion, Helen Mirren, Viola Davis and Jane Fonda in representing L’Oréal Paris’s “all women are worth it” ethos. Back in 2012, Bruna became the first model of colour to walk exclusively for Calvin Klein, and ever since she took the fashion world by storm, she’s passionately become a member of a new generation of fashion model activists, using her platform to stand up for the inclusion of Black women on the runway and also women’s rights. Case in point: Bruna has spoken up about the all-too-common hair discrimination that occurs behind the scenes at shows and shoots, and in 2018, she became an advocate for Solidarité Femmes, a French association working with survivors of domestic violence. Bruna will make her debut as L’Oréal Paris spokesmodel in product campaigns for the brand’s demi-permanent hair colour, Casting Crème Gloss, later this year, and also joins the advocating team for Stand Up Against Street Harassment, L’Oréal Pairs’s training program equipping people with the tools to intervene when facing or witnessing a situation of sexual harassment in public places.
