When it comes to shopping the high-street, there are few people who manage to find expensive-looking pieces quite like Claire Wakeman. The influencer consistently uploads chic outfit photos, which contain pieces that look luxurious but just so happen to come with an affordable price-tag.

In fact, we constantly find ourselves watching her feed to see which high-street items she’s managed to get her hands on and as it turns out, Wakeman has a particular talent for finding stylish pieces on H&M

Given her knack for tracking down H&M gems, we decided to ask Claire for her top tips on shopping the brand’s website, as well as a few links to pieces she currently has her eye on. As to be expected, her responses were full on the interesting tidbits only a true insider would know, with tips on what to search for and how to make sure you never miss out on the best bits. Read on for Claire’s top 5 tips below.

“I have a few key search terms I use, for example, ‘Ladies Trend.’ Trend is a concept within H&M which is a slightly higher price point and I have always bought a lot of pieces from this collection.”

“I also search ‘Conscious,’ where I can shop sustainable products and ‘Premium Quality’ which lists products in premium materials such as leather and cashmere products. The investment pieces.”

“I would also suggest signing up to be an H&M Member—it’s free and great for discounts (you get 10% off when you join, 25% off an item on your birthday and ad hoc discounts throughout the year) and free delivery over £20.”

“One thing I do a lot is sign up for notifications if something is sold out. Usually, it will come back in stock due to a restock or return. I’m still waiting for the chunky leather Chelsea boots to come back in though!”

“One final key piece of advice for HM.com is…be quick and be decisive! If you love it buy it, as a lot of the pieces don’t stay around for long and you’ll regret it if you procrastinate. I know, it happens to me far too often!” Keep scrolling to shop Claire’s current wish-list.

“For A/W I always like to update my knitwear. I predict tank tops or pullovers will be huge this season. I love this cream version and would wear it over a white shirt or tee.”

“As much as I love a big coat (all my faves on HM.com are currently out of stock grrrrr – so I’m all signed up to notifications and waiting for new ones!) I do also enjoy a lighter option. This jacket looks super high-end. I’d wear with a great pair of jeans and keep the rest of the outfit super simple. It’s such a statement shape and beautiful shade of blue.”

“My new favourite trouser shape has to be tailored, specifically tapered, and I love neutral tones and the colour of these. They look great paired with this jumper (the two slightly different tones of brown work so well together) and with a great sandal to dress it up. This look would also work with a cool pair of trainers.”

“You can’t beat a bit of leopard print and I’m very into the shape of this dress. It’s super cute and versatile as it can be worn in any season—with bare legs in S/S and tights in A/W. I’m enjoying a frilly collar at the moment, I have far too many of those but this is a dress so totally different, right…?!”

“A great rollneck is a must for A/W. There are so many on HM.com at the moment. Too many of the chunky knit ones I procrastinated over and didn’t buy and now I really regret it but I also love this thinner version for layering. I would size up, so it’s oversized and wear with jeans, leather trousers, silky skirts and pop a blazer over the top. It’s so easy to wear and the greige colour is gorge. I own a couple of thinner knit rollnecks in cream and black and wear them so much, layering under a shirt or sweatshirt.”

“I am constantly on the hunt for great jeans. The perfect pair of jeans can make an outfit. I love these wide, longer length ones with a high waist. They look amazing with this blazer, a tee and heels. Casual chic at it’s finest.”
