I don’t like to sound like a screaming fan—I really don’t—but I would be lying if I didn’t say that I’ve been a big fan of Alexa Chung‘s style for the last 13 years. Long before Instagram was even a twinkle in the internet’s eye and when Kim Kardashian was just another reality TV star, I was fawning over the quirky-cool stylings of young Chung in her Popworld and T4 presenter days. Over the intervening years, we’ve watched as her stardom has ascended: Chanel muse, It girl, fashion-week darling, and, of course, a fashion designer in her own right. Oh, how far we’ve come. 

While the world has changed and my personal style has evolved from teen to twenty-something, Chung’s sartorial appeal is unwavering. She continues to dole out winning ensembles to a new generation of fashion lovers, and I feel like it is a testament to her taste that outfits from over six years ago still feel as fresh as ever. Looking back, there are so many looks that I would happily re-create now.

The Acne shearling is one of those wardrobe icons that never really goes out of style. I love how she’s glammed hers up with knee-high boots and a midi skirt. 

Okay, I’m not 100% sold on the fluffy clutch, but the minimalist simplicity of the dungarees, white shirt, and Birkenstocks looks just as good now as it did six years ago.

Sometimes, all you need is one hero item, as seen in this LFW shot. Alexa’s stunning Simone Rocha trench only needs a pair of kick-flare jeans (obvs) and white sneakers to truly shine.

Despite being more of a trousers gal, Chung makes a good case for the just-above-the-knee skirt in this outfit from 2015. I’m so into the graphic wrap-skirt silhouette paired with the cosy roll-neck knit.
