We’re only three months into 2021, so really it’s no surprise that we haven’t seen many dress trends surface quite yet, but with waves of warmer weather coming in fits and starts, it seems as though fashionable frocks are finally coming out to play. Case in point, there is one particular dress that has cropped up multiple times on our feeds over the last few weeks, and that’s Free People‘s Dahlia smocked midi.

While the pale-yellow iteration has undoubtedly been the biggest hit, this trending dress actually comes in five summery hues, including mint and faded pink. With dramatic puffed sleeves, a tiered skirt, a smocked bust and daisy embroidery, it packs plenty of nostalgic fairytale vibes, which is sure to add a little escapism to your new-season capsule. That being said, we love how many influencers have given theirs a utilitarian spin with Velcro sandals, but of course, you can’t go wrong with a full-on romantic straw-boater-and-bag pairing (see Bubbly Aquarius).

Scroll down to see how Instagram’s best dressed have been wearing their Dahlia dress, and shop the style.

Keep it casual with flip-flops and layered jewellery à la Emma Rose.

The smocked detailing means that the dress is great for those with larger busts.

For a full-on summer celebration, finish your dress with raffia accessories: A boater and bag will do the job nicely.
