It’s the fashion update that I never would’ve predicted a month ago, but according to Lyst searches for sequin pieces have risen significantly over the last two weeks, with page views currently up 165%, alongside an 88% rise in searches for glitter and crystal-embellished shoes. Apparently, despite a global pandemic, lots of the British public are still up for getting on their glad rags for the festive season—even if that’s from the comfort of their sofa.

In some ways, it’s not that surprising if you consider the fact that most of us have been living in loungewear for the last seven months and celebrations have been put on pause. I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly taking advantage of any excuse to feel, well, just a little bit shiny. But let’s be realistic here, most of us won’t be going from 0 to 100 with teetering stilettos and minidresses, instead of many of us will want to achieve that balance of comfort and glamour.

You might not have any idea of your Christmas plans yet (anyone else experiencing COVID bubble meltdown?), but I’ve put together six outfits with varying levels of fanciness that will get you in the party spirit this Christmas. From sofa sequins to stay-warm layering cocktail frocks, scroll down to see my outfits.
