Well, it’s official: Summer has finally arrived, and it’s about time. After what felt like the longest winter on record, there’s nothing better than the feeling of the sun on your face, an iced coffee in hand and relishing the balmy bliss of a floaty summer dress—especially after a year of tracksuits and slippers. The rise in mercury also means we can finally wheel out all the warm-weather outfits we’ve been mentally concocting over the last few months, whether it’s a printed midi, a throw-on shorts set or a retro swimsuit. The brand’s LA Atelier summer shop is a particular treasure trove for the June heatwave, and I’ve lost track of the pieces that I want to add to my basket. There are four items that have specifically piqued my interest, and I have a feeling they will be well worth the investment for many seasons to come. For example, there’s the versatile summer dress in a flattering shade of off-white, which will work both in the city and on a day trip to the beach. I also have to mention the shorts set, this summer’s answer to the co-ord and surely one of the easiest looks to style. Just add sandals, sunnies and a piece of jewellery, and you’re good to go. The key for nabbing those hero items is to look for cooling fabrics, such as linen, alongside clean-lined basics that can be dressed up or down according to the occasion.
