Let’s be straight here: There’s absolutely a time and place for fine jewellery (aka those future heirlooms that are purchased for a big birthday or presented in a little black box). But these aren’t necessarily the pieces you want to be wearing on the average working day sitting in front of a laptop screen. One thing’s for sure: There’ll always be a space in our accessory arsenal for affordable jewellery that caters to our low-key fashion needs.

I for one, don’t subscribe to the idea that in order to shop sustainably you need exclusively splash the cash on designer wares. Most of my jewellery was bought on the high street and has happily served me for years. It’s all about keeping a beady eye out for a good piece or design that will stand the test of time and cater to a variety of outfits and occasions.

If you’re not sure where to start, let me help you. I’ve done a bit of digging and found some chic jewellery brands that can’t be found in your typical high-street store. From Susan Caplan’s vintage gems and delicate chains via Daisy Jewellery to Missoma’s everyday staples, scroll down to see and shop the eight affordable brand I’m loving right now.

For affordable jewellery pieces that can be mixed-and-matched and layered-up, head over to Astrid & Miyu. Perfect for both birthday presents and treat-yourself buys.

If you’re looking for geometric earrings with artistic impact, head over to A Weathered Penny. These pieces will instantly elevate your wardrobe staples.

Missoma might be one of the better-known offerings in our lineup, but it’s got to be one of the best for classic designs and purse-friendly edits. This is ideal for those looking for that special something for a friend.

From floral clip-ons to pendant necklaces, Wolf and Moon is your one-stop shop for affordable yet high end–looking jewellery. I have my eye on the oversized link earrings, which come in a rainbow of shades.

If your taste is more delicate, head over to Matthew Calvin. These will be pieces you will wear for years to come.

I currently own a chain necklace from Daisy Jewellery, and I wear it all the time. Toeing the line between trend-led and classic, you can expect everything from pearl pendants to Art Deco–inspired shield rings.

This is one of the best of the bunch. Susan Caplan is a luxury vintage label that offers curated collections of jewellery from the last eighty years. Head to Harvey Nichols for chunky chains, brooches and more.

With a mix of pieces and price points, V by Laura Vann is on the upper end of the affordable jewellery spectrum, but it’s totally worth it for the quality. A go-to for layerable chains.
