First of all, I am very much aware that Marimekko isn’t exactly a hot-off-the-press brand. In fact, according to its website, it’s been around since 1951, outstripping my lifetime by a good 40 years. Not too shabby really. Unusually, it’s one of those brands that hasn’t ever really deviated from its original formula—aka fashion designs in vibrant, abstract prints. Long before the likes of Stine Goya or Ganni, Finnish-based Marimekko was repping the Scandi aesthetic.
