Ah, jeans and a nice top. Where would we be without this classic fashion combination? Usually our go-to for festive drinks and easy ‘out-out’ ensembles, it’s certainly served us well over the years, but this year it has taken on an even greater significance as we find ourselves on the lookout for low-effort, sofa-appropriate (and dare I say Zoom-ready) party looks. When heels and form-fitting frocks are the last thing we want to be wearing after months of comfy loungewear, a nice-top-and-jeans is the perfect way to dress up with minimal effort and maximum impact.

Luckily, our favourite influencers have provided us with more than enough inspiration in this department, with a plethora of top options—from sequins to sheer organza—cropping up on our feeds. All you needs to do is add your fave jeans and pretty flats and you’re ready to go. So, if you’re looking for low-key party outfit inspo this year, scroll down to see and shop the best outfits around. Happy browsing!

Style Notes: Party season means one thing: sequins. Give an embellished top an edgy overhaul by styling it with classic blue denim, a velvet clutch and undone hair. Take it from our muse, Monikh Dale.

Kate Spade Autumn/Winter Sale

Style Notes: Organza was a key texture on the autumn/winter 2020 runways. The easiest way to wear it? Undoubtedly in top form with a pair of flared jeans, as evidenced by Ada Oguntodu. Just add heeled boots and your go-to jewels.

Style Notes: Statement sleeve tops aren’t just for the warmer months; worn with denim, they’ll easily see you through 2020’s festive period. Our advice? Keep the rest of your outfit paired-back.

Style Notes: Sometimes less is more in the party top stakes, and Marisa Martins makes a very good case for the cream satin blouse. Keep it low-key with a trench or, for a dressier look, opt for a classic black blazer.

Style Notes: No one has a knack for making outfits look sultry quite like Anne-Laure Mais. Make like the French It girl by wearing a fitted leopard top with fitted jeans, slingback heels and leather outerwear.

Style Notes: If anyone knows about less-is-more styling, it’s the French—particularly Jeanne Damas. Although undoubtedly glam, we love how she masterfully adds a knitted cardigan into her sultry lace-trimmed camisole and high-waist jeans to give it a laissez-faire feel.
