The week begins on the heels of Jupiter—the planet of good luck, good fortune, and abundance—stationing direct. Happening on Sunday, August 11, at 9:37 a.m. Eastern, the great giant of the sky begins to move forward in the sign of optimism and growth (Sagittarius). On top of that, Mercury, which clears its retrograde shadow on August 14 (holler), enters into Leo on Sunday as well, adding to the positive fuel of the week ahead.
It’s safe to say that the week ahead initiates us into a new chapter of 2019. The star-studded lineup commands you to open your heart and lead with courage.
With the sun, Venus, Mars, and Mercury in Leo now—while Jupiter travels direct—we can expect things to feel passionate, contagious, blunt, and bold. Add to the mix that the sun and Venus conjoin in the sky for their kiss, aka a cazimi, it’s safe to say that the week ahead initiates us into a new chapter of 2019. As if that weren’t enough, on top of this, we have a full moon in Aquarius too. Boom. The star-studded lineup commands you to open your heart and lead with courage.
Venus and the sun align at the same degree of the sky roughly every nine months forming what’s called a Venus Star Point. This annual meet-up offers you a moment to solidify a vision for yourself as it relates to your desires for love, beauty, harmony, and your value-driven goals. Like a new moon—which happens when the sun and the moon conjoin—a Venus-and-sun conjunction holds similar powers. Though rarer and arguably more potent, the Venus-sun alignment infuses Venus’ strengths into the atmosphere, initiating a new cycle for the planet of love’s abilities.
At the same time, Venus and the sun switch positions in the sky. While you cannot currently see Venus in the sky, it will soon begin to rise in the evening. (As opposed to the morning, where we’ve seen the planet since its retrograde conjunction with the sun back in October 2018.) Venus, in its evening star position, represents Venus in its most resourced place. Like the goddess Aphrodite, Venus in this position is said to deliver abundance, fertility, pleasure, and sensuality. So take time on August 14 to set an intention for this current Venus phase. Venus’ next conjunction with the sun won’t be until June 2020. Hold tight to your desires for how you’d like to conjure and create your expression of love. It’s in Leo after all, encouraging you to breathe life into your heart.

Speaking of expressions of the heart, there’s also the full moon in Aquarius happening in the morning on August 15, at 8:22 a.m. Eastern. With Uranus, Aquarius’ ruler, now retrograde, this full moon commands you to look at where you can more boldly express your eccentricity and authenticity. It might also ask you to reconcile unexpected news too.
However, with four planets in Leo, now’s the time to stand proud, befitting the sign of the lion. Are you worried about your ego getting in the way? Don’t be. Pluto, the planet that asks you to look at your shadow, forms an inconjunct to the sun-Venus conjunction, which is in full effect this full moon.
Pluto in this position prompts you to look at what you can do better. You may even be asked to eliminate that which isn’t working, to reach out for something new. If so, don’t be afraid to do so. Sometimes opening your heart broader means allowing space for grief. Thankfully, emotions are transient and temporary.
At the time of Thursday’s full moon, Mercury in Leo forms a trine to Chiron in Aries, which animates deep, soulful healing.
No matter what emerges this week, acknowledge it! At the time of Thursday’s full moon, Mercury in Leo forms a trine to Chiron in Aries, which animates deep, soulful healing. Even with Mercury squaring the retrograde ruler of this full moon, Uranus (an aspect that can bring abrupt news to the surface), this fire trine to Chiron offers inspiration. Follow that up with the conjunct sun and Venus also in a trine to the dwarf planet of discord, Eris, and it’s safe to say you can put your emotions to good use. Think beauty, harmony, and truth.
