5 Quick Home Refreshes Before the Holidays Hit

Home renovations are booming as families at home modify their spaces to better suit their new reality. In lieu of knocking down walls and painting entire rooms, we asked the interior design team at Saffron + Poe in Mill Valley to share a few simpler and easier ideas for refreshing our space before the holidays roll around! Here’s what they shared with us…

Being home for the holidays is a great excuse to give your decor a refresh before the tree and lights go up. Whether your Thanksgiving table will hold just your immediate family or a small group of podded friends this year, here are our picks for design elements that will transform your space for festivities and that you’ll love to keep out year-round!

Sheepskin elements As the weather gets colder, nothing brings the hygge vibes quite like a soft and luxurious sheepskin. Make your diners extra snug in their seats by placing one on each of your chairs around the table or drape over living room lounge chairs for a cozy after dinner cocktail.

A well-Curated Shelf Give a prominent shelf, console table, or mantle an instantly curated look that is sure to impress by adding a new design accessory or simply re-arranging everything.  We make a set that includes four accessory staples we love: our Hammered Copper and Teak Bowl, a small Hand Beaded Bali Basket, Tasselled Bali Beads, and a one-of-a-kind Ilala Palm Wall Basket. Thoughtfully style these favorites with a couple of your own treasures and some books for a well traveled and collected vibe!

leverl up your serveware Having stylish and versatile pieces in your serveware collection is key for entertaining, even for small intimate gatherings. We love this gorgeous Fluted Pitcher from Amber Interiors that can be used to serve water at the table during your holiday meal or as a rustic vase for a floral arrangement.

warm-scented Candles …are always an excellent way to bring a welcoming and warm ambiance to your space. We recommend having lit candles in key spaces like your entryway, dining room, and of course, one for the powder room. We love this classic Capri Blue Volcano Capiz Jar Candle.

artful serving boards Every host should have an assortment of serving and cheese boards on hand. We love hanging or leaning boards after use for a storage-meets-wall-decor solution that looks fantastic in any kitchen. This set of Euro Natural Wood Cutting Boards from West Elm is also an excellent option for someone needing to invest in a new set!
baskets + bowls …can provide a multi-purpose centerpiece that you’ll want to keep in use well past the holidays. These Woven Tenganan Baskets are intricately woven in Bali from ata reed. They are excellent as a simple and elegant centerpiece on a large dining table or displayed on your kitchen counter filled with your favorite autumnal farmers market haul! Like a cornucopia, but contemporary and chic!
