Long before we even knew the word ‘covid’, we were repeating the phrase “unprecedented times”, and our wardrobes turned into a Groundhog day of comfy-but-smart pieces, fashion was already looking towards a more classic, pared-back approach. Then the autumn/winter 2020 runways confirmed it: this season is about the pieces you’ll be wearing forever and not just for a few months. In our trend report for this season, Elizabeth von der Goltz, global buying director at Net-a-Porter said that customers will be making more considered purchases with sustainability in min and that “our wardrobes will be more hardworking than ever before, featuring well-loved pieces that can be styled in multiple ways.”
